SELECTED WORKS
Fantasmántico
(2019)
Distributed by Amazon Prime Video US (June, 2019)
“ The story of a ghost full of fear in constant battle against his phobia, in order to conquer his beloved he will need to overcome his greatest fear. “
What Edgar says
As a composer, my goal was to create a soundscape that would immediately immerse the audience in the world of the film.
I worked closely with the director and animators to understand the mood and tone of the sequence, and to ensure that the music would complement and enhance the visuals.
To me, Nas, the blue ghost who is the main character of the film, seemed to need his own musical identity. When the title "Fantasmántico" finally appeared on the big screen, it was as if this identity had come to life, speaking directly to the audience and inviting them to join him on his journey. In addition, I was very inspired by this musical color from the first Harry Potter movie.

Sombras
(2021)
Distributed by Latino Public Broadcasting & Avenida TV (April, 2021)
“ The story follows Kino and Juana, two individuals on a journey to reach the American dream. “
What Edgar says
The experience composing the soundtrack for "Sombras" was a unique musical journey for me, where every note in the vast desert wove a story of hope and decision. According to various audience testimonies, the combination of solo instruments, orchestra, and electronic elements enriched the auditory experience, while the introduction set the tone from the outset, with the mysterious appearance of the coyote gesture adding additional intrigue.
I treated the desert as another character in the plot, giving it voice and meaning. I intertwined the sounds of the guitar (representing Kino) and the cello (representing Juana) to reflect the deep connection between the protagonists, especially in the scene where my theme "All We Have Left" plays. With the passage of "Juana's Affliction," I aimed to emphasize the pivotal turn that occurs in the story.
The modulations and distortions of the melody created a sense of constant movement, challenging tonal expectations and guiding the listener on a journey of transformation into the unknown.

MAKHEE
(2O18)
Distributed by Cinepolis Klic (June, 2018)
“ In a monastery, the meditation of a group of monkeys is interrupted.
This is after one of them, named Balún, decides to put an end to a fly that’s been bothering him.”
What Edgar says
Makhee was one of my very first projects I put the music on. Its inception marked the beginning of a journey filled with creativity, experimentation, and growth. As I delved into the intricacies of composing, arranging, and producing, Makhee became a canvas for my musical aspirations. Each note and melody woven into its fabric carried the essence of my passion and dedication.
The melody that identifies Balún is imbued with innocence and charm, reflecting his pure-hearted nature and childlike curiosity.
During the chase scene, percussions take center stage, intensifying the pace and adding suspense to the scenario.
Together, the playful melody and lively percussion create a dynamic soundtrack that captures the essence of Balún's character and the exhilarating chase scene unfolding within the tranquil confines of the monastery.
For the moment, Cinépolis Klic is out of service. I'll keep you posted so you can watch the short film soon. Thank you for your understanding.
